I moved to Denmark last fall with my family, and I've really felt the loss of scheduled writing times with friends in the U.S.; the 6-9 hour difference, with kids and day jobs, makes things really tricky. I am open to crit groups, but I'm especially hoping to find others close to this slice of the planet who'd be interested in banding together online to have writing sprints during the day...an accountability group, if you will.
I write YA, but I'm open to anyone else for writing sprints. Critique-wise, I prefer MG or YA partnerships and small groups with an informal submission schedule.
Samples of my work are linked below--check it out and hit me up if you're interested!
Hey, I'm in Slovenia and I'm in the final stages of revising a YA contemp and plotting a MG. I'm not so much available for writing sprints during the day (I have a baby so he keeps me busy), but I'm all for a critique group.
Hey, Brigita and Fiona! Thanks so much for responding!
The detail: I mostly write during the day when my kiddo is in school, so an ability to do sprints then is great. Sometimes I do evenings; this is more likely as I bust my hump to finish my MS. If you connect with me on Twitter, we can try to organize that way. (It's about time to revive my neglected Twitter account.)
Critique groups: After some back and forth, I decided I should probably stick with a critique partner rather than trying to do a critique group. I have a feeling I'd be biting off more than I can chew, otherwise, but I think there's a thread here somewhere specifically for online crit groups! I hope that's helpful, Brigita! (And sorry to be so waffly. It's been that sort of January.)
Hey, I added you on Twitter, I'm @brigitao on there. :-) No worries about being waffly, I'm like that too. It's all about finding what fits best and that changes with time too.
Contact me on Twitter (I should try to post more, too) when you're up for a sprint and I'll see if I have time. With two kids and two jobs it's sometimes hard to find time during the day & evening. I do most of my writing early in the morning when the rest of the house is still asleep and there's blissful quiet. ;-) Best, B
